TIME CHANGES IN MARCH AND APRIL 2004
FT Interactive Data would like to remind clients
of the impact on the timing of data availability following
various time changes around the world from 21 March 2004 onward.
Overview of the time changes:
- Europe
Summer Time begins in all European markets on 28 March 2004.
- Americas
Daylight Saving Time begins on 4 April 2004 - one week later
than Europe. NB: Some countries in Central and South America
do not change time, but trading moves in line with the New
York Stock Exchange time changes.
- Asia Pacific
There is no time change for many countries in this region
such as Singapore. Two significant exceptions are Australia
and New Zealand. Please note that details on "Asia
Pacific" shown below do not therefore refer to Australia
and New Zealand.
- Australia and New Zealand
Summer time ends on 28 March 2004 in Australia and on 21
March 2004 in New Zealand. Because these countries are in
the Southern Hemisphere the clock change moves in the opposite
direction to countries in the Northern Hemisphere.
The impact on data availability from 21
March 2004 will be as follows:
Clients in Europe
- European datawill be available at the same time as prior
to the time changes

Impact on FT Interactive Data's service production
- Services containing Asia Pacific close data may be created
up to two hours later than prior to the time changes depending
on the service set-up. Intra-day services will begin and
end up to two hours later than prior to the time changes,
depending on client location.
- FTS services which are created on receipt of market-close
triggers will be created either later or earlier than usual
depending on the trigger used
- FTS services which use a combination of a time slot and
market-close triggers as a dependency may be created either
earlier or later than prior to the time changes. This will
be dependent on whether the market-close triggers and the
allocated time slot appear earlier or later in relation
to the client location following the time changes. Where
the market-close is later than the client's local equivalent
of the file creation time slot after the time changes have
taken place, the service will wait for the arrival of the
applicable market-close trigger before creation takes place.
- FTS services that rely solely on a time slot will be created
at that pre-arranged time, regardless of the availability
of data.
- End-of-day European services will appear earlier for Australia
and New Zealand clients, but later for North American clients
between 29 March and 2 April.
- European clients will see end-of-day services containing
Americas data created at least one hour later between 29
March and 2 April. Intra-day services for the Americas region
will begin and end up to one hour later than prior to the
time changes, depending on client location.
FT Interactive Data can help clients with
the time changes by creating 'fast market-close' pricing files
on a market-by-market basis. In addition, service files can
be scheduled into different service sections and universes
split, according to client needs. This can be done either
on a temporary or permanent basis.
This document is intended to provide a overview of major impacts
of time changes, rather than a definitive guide. Any client
who needs more detailed information on the impact of the time
changes to their services, or who would like to discuss changing
their service profile should contact their local support office
or account manager. A list
of contact points for FT Interactive Data around the world
can be found on this web site.
